The use of technical enzymes in industrial processes for fine chemicals, pharmaceutical, food and textile, pulp and paper and biofuels is now a reality with worldwide sales of ~2 billion euros. Biotechnology provides clean and sustainable development.
However, nature did not evolve enzymes to be the perfect biocatalyst and tolerate industrial conditions. To solve this problem, we use enzyme evolution (incorporating our SeSaM technology) to enhance their performance under industrial conditions. Through our SeSaM mutagenesis technology and high-throughput screening system, we are able to rapidly and effectively optimize enzymes towards:

- increased organic solvent resistance
